STAFF
Approximately 150 persons work at Luomus. In addition to employees on permanent and fixed-term contracts, Luomus hosts several visiting researchers. Approximately 30 % of all staff are involved in teaching and research.
In addition to the core duties of Luomus, i.e. research and teaching, Luomus focuses on science and environmental education along with maintaining and developing research infrastructures, scientific national collections, long-term monitoring, the Finnish Biodiversity Info Facility and the Laboratory of Chronology. Consequently, the staff of Luomus has a higher number of non-research staff compared to the faculties of the University of Helsinki (see the picture below).
The number of full-time equivalent (FTE) employees increased by 10 in 2019/2020 thanks to external funding. This can be seen in the number of post-doctoral researchers (teaching and research staff, 2nd level) and ICT staff (Table 1).

STAFF CHANGES
Four people retired from Luomus in 2019 and only one person in 2020. Four fixed-term employment contracts were made permanent in 2019 and three in 2020.
